Biography

Russell Nebelung is a 2006 Master's of Music graduate in classical guitar performance from the College-Conservatory of Music - University of Cincinnati, where he studied with Clare Callahan. He received his BA in Music and Economics from Albion College in 2003. In addition to his studies with Clare Callahan, Mr. Nebelung has participated in a number of master classes with renowned classical guitarists such as Oscar Ghiglia, Jason Vieaux, Carlos Pérez, Randall Avers, and Lily Afshar. He has also participated in numerous music festivals such as the Grandin Festival ’04 and ’05, Music ’04 and ’05, International Guitar Festival ‘07, and Appalachian Guitar Fest ‘07.

At the College-Conservatory of Music he was awarded a University Graduate Scholarship as well as a Graduate Assistantship Award, which entailed the private instruction of guitar majors and elective students as well as the responsibility of Assistant Director of the CCM Classical Guitar Ensemble. During his time at CCM Mr. Nebelung also taught privately at Music Makers of Cincinnati and Slater Music Academy of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, thus allowing him to accrue a wealth of experience teaching guitar students of all ages.

He presently holds adjunct faculty positions at Albion College and Spring Arbor University and teaches privately at the Youth Enrichment Services (YES) Center in Grand Ledge, MI. He currently resides in East Lansing, MI.
